I had never known there was such a thing as a Solar Decathlon, but apparently...
Germany won this decathlon for the second year in a row, with Team Illinois and Team California falling shortly behind them. Germany's design was a home entirely covered in small squares of solar panels and was described by Megan Treacy as an "energy-sipping home." The house is entirely ecofriendly, as were all the other houses submitted. Each house was also powered by net-zero, something I had to research a bit to understand. This means that the houses are controlled online, very different from the average house you and I live in. The competition had twenty different teams, all trying to create the best solar-powered home. You can see videos of each ecofriendly house submitted by click here.
THAT IS SO COOL!! It's nice to see that there are many people/ countries that are trying to help with our situation, rather than just continuing to use up our resources. How many countries participate? Is it a well-known event? Is it government sponsored?
